New York & New England Ports

The American half of the route runs from Manhattan’s piers to the granite coast of Maine. Colonial streets, harbor walks and seaside paths make these ports easy to explore for free, while Acadia National Park and the New England countryside are where a paid tour earns its keep.

New York & New England — FAQ

Which New England ports are tender ports?

Bar Harbor and Newport usually anchor offshore and bring passengers ashore by small boat. Both tender landings are in the middle of town, so the free walking options start the moment you step onto the pier.

Is it worth leaving the city in Boston or New York?

Both cities have more free sightseeing than one day can hold, so most people stay in town. If you want Lexington and Concord from Boston, a tour is the simplest way to fit the drive into a port day.
