Atlantic Canada Ports

In the Maritimes and Newfoundland the cruise pier is almost always on the downtown waterfront, which makes these some of the easiest ports anywhere to see on your own. The famous scenery, from the Fundy tides to the Cabot Trail, lies farther out and is where excursions come in.

Atlantic Canada — FAQ

Do I need Canadian dollars ashore?

Not usually for a walking day. Cards are accepted almost everywhere, and some shops near the cruise piers also take US dollars, usually giving change in Canadian currency.

How cold is it on an Atlantic Canada port day?

Even in summer, harbor winds can be cool, and fog is common in Newfoundland. Bring a light waterproof layer, especially for exposed walks such as Signal Hill in St. John’s.
